Three situations make the distinction useful
If you need help with material already visible in a supported Samsung app, start with the relevant Galaxy feature. Check the actual output and whether it remains editable in that app. Avoid moving information to another service unless that extra step improves the result.
If you need a researched proposal with an attached spreadsheet, evaluate ChatGPT's end-to-end workflow. Specify the sources, calculation and export format. A convincing answer is not enough if you must rebuild the file yourself afterward.
If you want to translate or summarize an important message, compare preservation of meaning. Numbers, commitments and names deserve manual checking. The cost is not just an AI subscription

Check what leaves the device
A feature appearing inside the phone does not by itself prove every request is processed locally.
