Decide where the work should happen
The question is not simply which assistant answers a prompt more convincingly. Consider where your source material lives and where the result must go. Moving files between accounts can cost more time than generating the initial draft. An integration can be useful, but only if it supports the exact action and account you use.

Run the comparison on your own information
For a Google-centered workflow, take a small set of documents you are allowed to process and ask for a weekly project brief. Check source access, unsupported files, permissions and the steps needed to get the brief into the final destination. Do not award an integration credit merely because the app logo appears in a list.
For a standalone assignment, give both tools the same exported documents and ask for a decision memo with a traceable evidence section. Count incorrect claims, missing caveats and manual edits. These are suggested checks, not results from our testing. They make the purchasing decision about your workflow rather than two unrelated sample answers.
Gemini's advantage in this scenario would disappear if the required Google integration is unavailable to your account. ChatGPT's advantage would disappear if its export or connected tool cannot complete your required handoff. A broad feature list does not settle either condition.

Those nearly equal monthly amounts buy different bundles; do not subtract the full value of storage or other benefits unless they replace something you already pay for. Neither price is a developer API quote. If you are building a product rather than using an assistant, evaluate the API model, rate limits, deployment and costs separately. If you need only occasional help, first check whether either free tier finishes the job without the particular limitation that motivated an upgrade.
Review account settings before connecting files
Google distinguishes Gemini activity settings, temporary chats and work or school accounts. Turning Keep Activity off does not erase data or change settings in unrelated Google products. Make the choice after one repeatable task: same input, same required output, same time budget and an explicit list of corrections. Prefer fewer handoffs and a result you can inspect, rather than assuming ecosystem size or a model name guarantees reliability.
